every day is another opportunity to eat, pray, love

MAY-BE I'll learn to slow down

…but not likely. May was absolutely insane: A work trip turned Bedell girls trip, a road trip & mini college reunion, city living, a national work event, capped by a road trip getaway. I’d like to say that I learned to slow down, but all may taught me is that my blood still belongs in california.

SAN DIEGO: “definitely the five”

Days 1-4: “Work” - many happy hours, work-wife reunion, & fun presentations kicked off my first sales business conference.

Want to learn how to plan a trip like a Bedell? (aka Cindi) time to pay attention.

Day 1: get some coffee • get some wine & cross off an nice cream bucket list at SalT & STRAW • order 7 desserts at EXTRAORDINARY desserts • taste your Crack • watch your high school bestie crush it on broadway (everyone go see dancin’!)• get some dinner and have many laughs

Day 2: walk for coffee at Little Joy (one of my favorite parts)• hike at black’s beach•walk through La Jolla, grab a coffee, avoid having the most dramatic uncomfy encounter with the artist of a whale painting • drink wine & eat the best fish burrito at el pescador market • birthday dinner sea bass and sunsets at poseidon

Day 3: another morning stroll for coffee & the best juice spot • hike at Cabrillo National Moment - got to hear some stories from vets in a bunker • Hotel Del - tasted out $26 fries that were worth every cent (that I did not pay) • finally got to try out a friend’s distillery You & Yours - these taco bell bites were UNREAL (says the girl who hates TB) • last bit of soaking up the sun • send-off dinner and drinks…lots of drinks at Monarch. This may be one of my favorite spots - not only do they sell Lamb Fries, their ceviche was to die for, I had the best pastrami sandwich of my life andd I will forever try to recreate this chamango habanero (tequila, mango & chamoy).

making all the stops

One of my college teammates was getting married, so of course took advantage of every second back in Iowa City. This place has grown so much in the past 3 years - there are some new favs on the block • Big Grove - the go to on a nice day & tried out their new seltzers, love finding new people • Of course had to go to Marquee - started off smart and ended with a surprise DESSERT that put me straight into a comma • Got to try out Iowa Athletic Club, by far the new cool kid on the block. Cannot wait to head back during football season•Made it to the Pekar’s wedding - every detail was perfect, especially the late night ice cream truck & Marco’s grilled cheese (IYKYK). Shockingly, this was my first one ever• Ended the trip at Tribute for the donut bites & a brussels hash and treats for the road at Cookies & Dreams. I’m assuming this is like Crumbl cookies - but fatttt cookies that were to die for.

hanging in the city

Solo reading Happy Hour at chicago fire house •Saw to kill a mockingbird…the show was perfect…I might have to finally read the book•if you’re in chicago and haven’t tried ingrained, your missing out. their sourdough focaccia is craveable •my new coffee obsession - eat me milk me latte with bobba•work national event - we served up churro chips and had a blast!•very few homecooked meals were made, so we aimed for quality vs quantity: salmon rice paper wraps, HBH honey mustard chicken sandwich ( a new go to), and a birthday dinner flop - the scallops were overcooked & the seabass wasnt deboned…but hey, at least it looked gorgeous!

gettin’ out of the city

timmy’s mentor had his retirement party up at michigan state so we made a little trip out of it. smiles, cocktails, sunshine & the highlight of the trip - sherman’s ice cream.

happy things

when the bangs curledjust right•prettiest congratulation flowers from my bestie•the cutest cocktail bag from VIOLET hour •the rainbow we all needed •baby water for the bestie’s baby shower•sunsets for life.
