every day is another opportunity to eat, pray, love

Vision Month

January gets a bad rap with all the New Years Resolutions, but why not take the time to reflect and reset? I mean, don’t get me wrong. If you’re feeling that, please don’t wait another 11 months to give that a try - go ahead and give it a go now. But, this month I wanted to press in and see the areas that I may have been avoiding for far too long. I’ve never been a vision board person, but after a little inspo from one of my best friends, I got on board (pun intended)

Here’s some of the things I’m looking to & the thought processes along the way.

actively put God first

  • discipline my practice. tip: bundle with something you always do - for example, make it a habit to read or pray before you workout!

get back on the pod game

  • I know that I am called to have conversations with people, but this is still giving me some angst…I stay tuned

put my head in 12 books

  • two down: Big Ideas by bob goff & The push by ashley audrain - both amazing

go off the grid at a cabin getaway (Still pending)

make Bible doodles into a book (in progress)

mindfully spend my monies (Ha…we are trying)

break the chain off of food guilt

  • I am actually pumped about this. I have been doing the FMD with my mom the past couple weeks, and it has started to help me find a better balance in food and ways of eating. Granted, I haven’t had tooo much food to feel guilty about but…I’m loving this.

influenced in the kitchen

having to eat some new ways, it made me want to mix things up in the kitchen. thankfully, I have a slew of homies on the ‘gram that I can mimic in the kitchen.

Winter soup: its definitely soup weather. my girl, jessica hodge shared this superfood winter stew that gives off all the cozy vibes.
Shakshuka: I think this is a meal that people are intimidated by…dont be. It is easy peasy and the presentation & flavors are off the charts. This recipe by RGE is a goodie.
TikTok Quesadilla: this trend has been floating around and I can see why. I mean let’s be real, a toasty quesadilla is already a winner, but this technique makes a wrap that much better.
Butter Chicken: I. love. indian food. half baked harvest has been killing it on the gram with an abundance of recipes, including this one. this will definitely become a part of my rotation.

worth the calories

somtimes the moment on the lips is worth the forever on the hips.

smoothie - now, this is actually a healthy plant based smoothie…but it tastes like cake batter and I crave them weekly.
Pizza - pilsen style pizza is the coolest kid on the block. Bob’s thank you for eing you. never change.
oatmeal cream pie - when you get bobs, you have to get an oatmeal cream pie. no discussion.
fried ice cream - so i started this diet thing and of course had to go balls to the wall the night before. enter this fried ice cream from taco maya. this baby braved the delivery traffic all the way to my belly.
Goat Cheese & Fig Cheesecake {pie} - little did I know when I went to go pick up a slice that it was natty pie day! I can’t wait to go back to bang bang to try all the things (their biscuits are calling my name).

finding balance

one of the things I’ve always struggled with is finding balance in working out. this month, I have tried to listen more to my body rather than constantly putting the pedal to the metal.

speaking of listening to my body, trying to focus on how important it is to pay attention to my cycle. My best friend and her friends have so much good info on all that bizz. no more 5/6 days a week of hiit for me - this meant some kick ass workouts (at home, at train moment, and virtually with FSC), nature walks (good for the heart & the soul), weekend pilates (thanks youtube).

quality time with quality people

Sometimes its the simplest things that can fill up your cup.

moments with kiddo, the sweetest christmas presents, freezing coffee walks, the most gorgeous sunrise, another banger by Bob Goff, and coworking in stunning rooms.

the best medicine

…is laughing at yourself. two times this month I had impromtu photoshoots - one for a friend, one for the snow. needless to say, i can’t take myself that seriously, but it sure is one hell of a confidence booster.

FAMILY

Each year, Oasis has a word for the vision for the church that year.
This year is family (again). This vision month we walked through the four pillars that Oasis will stand on:
God’s word, presence, family & city.

I’m beyond excited to see how this vision will refocus our hearts and minds on where God is calling us and Oasis. If you’re needing or wanting a church home right now, oasis is having services in person & online!

now, I’m ready to celebrate the one who has a pizza my heart.

(natty pizza day is feb 9th…but Tim too)
